Beautiful Landscapes
With the Malvern Hills to the south (a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), and the undulating land of the Severn Valley and the Cotswolds, there are plenty of footpaths to explore and picnic areas with some spectacular views. The river Severn runs through the county and there are plenty of opportunities to walk along it through meadows and woodlands – as well as to get out on the water in boats, canoes, paddle boards and kayaks!
City, Towns and Villages
Worcester’s cathedral is magnificent and one of a number of examples of the beautiful architecture of the city, including the Greyfriars House and the 500 year old Tudor House, half timbered buildings in Friar Street, and the Guildhall which dates back to 1721. Guided walking tours are available for those wanting to sightsee! The city is also famous for Worcester Pottery (and of course Worcestershire Sauce!), and there are many lovely towns and villages in the county beyond Worcester. For example, the Cotswolds village of Broadway, the historic, riverside town of Evesham and Malverns, six villages in the Malvern Hills.
Attractions For Everyone
The vast West Midlands Safari Park in Bewdley has a drive through safari experience and Adventure Park – a brilliant option for wildlife loving kids. You can also check out Cob House Country Park (Malvern), Top Barn Farm and All Things Wild, which all offer the chance to get close to animals and experience nature.
Alternatively, the Severn Valley Railway runs steam locomotives through 16 miles of Worcestershire and Shropshire. Historical attractions include Worcester’s civil war experience at The Commandery, the Royalist Headquarters during the Battle of Worcester 1651 that has now been turned into a museum. The County Museum at Hartlebury Castle has even won the Visit England Hidden Gem award!
