Static Caravans for Sale in Northumberland

Diverse Landscape

The varied landscape of Northumberland has features ranging from heather moorlands and ancient woodlands to sandy beaches and rock cliffs. The Northumberland National Park includes the Cheviot Hills in the north, the Kielder Forest and some of the most dramatic sections of Hadrian’s Wall. There are also two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Northumberland Coast and the North Pennines, which each offer stunning scenery.

Unique Towns and Villages

Berwick upon Tweed is an ancient walled coastal town in the far north of the county. Close to Scotland, the town was fortified to repel the Scots in Elizabethan times and has changed from English to Scottish many times in its history! The town walls form a full circuit, which can be walked around offering stunning views.

Allendale is a pretty, stone built village that has twice been named ‘Village of the Year for England’. The New Year celebrations involve the famous Tar Bar’l – at midnight, barrels filled with blazing tar are carried on men’s heads through the streets to banish evil spirits for the coming year.

Natural Attractions

Inland Kielder Forest has badgers, water voles and red squirrels as well as ospreys and goshawks to see, and it is famous for its gorgeous night skies. Coastal areas are great for bird watching, and from boat trips to the Farne Islands you can see grey seals basking on the rocks!

The county is scattered with castles, bastles, and pele towers, to guard against attacks from the Vikings, but mainly the Scots and Border Reivers well into the seventeenth century. Bamburgh Castle with its dramatic coastal setting is perhaps the best known, but Anwick Castle was used as the setting for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films!
